In December 2021, he made his last appearance on the SABC1 soapie Skeem Saam in a spelling bee competition episode.
Molefi Monaisa, 49, said to Drum in May 2021 that portraying Wallet in Skeem Saam has been one of the biggest pleasures of his career. Wallet, a fan favourite, recites poetry on the slopes of Turfloop, enjoys tea, takes his briefcase everywhere, and executes his British accent to perfection.
Monaisa describes his character as a writer, actor, and director in a previous life who has travelled the world and spent roughly eight or nine years in England and considers himself a local there.
“Despite being well-read and well-traveled, he squandered it all and had to return to Turfloop.” It’s unfortunate that individuals like him wind up in townships with expensive degrees, but they drank themselves into poverty.”
“I remember reading the script for the first time and thinking, aah, I know this guy.” I know a lot of them. It’s unfortunate that individuals go through so much to end up like Wallet.”
