Israel Zulu has reportedly had his leg amputated after living with gangrene for some time now. Sunday World reported that the Gomora actor is said to be recovering at his home, after losing his right leg.

The iconic actor opened up about his struggle with this dangerous condition and said he is surrounded by family. He had to exit Gomora – he played the character Don as he was using a wheelchair, and it proved to be a challenge.

Now, according to Sunday World, the actor has undergone surgery to remove his right leg, which was the one that was damaged. According to reports, the procedure took place two weeks ago in a Sandton hospital.

Producers are rumored to be considering bringing him back on Gomora as soon as next year since he stated in his statement that he will be making a comeback after his rest at home. “The man is a legend without a doubt, and Gomora needs him,” a source told the newspaper. When he began suffering slight aches, which he “considered as a passing phase,” he was diagnosed shortly after joining the program.
