Zimbabwe has invited a group of journalists and media celebrities from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) bloc to come and see the nation in an effort to boost its image and reputation in the region and throughout the world.
Journalists from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, and Tanzania are among those in the group. It also features three well-known South Africans: TV personality Pearl Thusi, actress Sonia Mbele, and veteran actor Sello Maake Ka-Ncube.
The delegation of journalists and celebrities is in Zimbabwe as part of a government-organized public relations operation. The tour, dubbed ‘The Real Zimbabwe Tour,’ attempts to highlight President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration’s achievements and development since winning elections in 2018. The tour also intends to emphasise Zimbabwe’s potential and prospects for tourism, commerce, and investment.

The Real Zimbabwe Tour began in August 2023 in Victoria Falls and will conclude on August 12, 2023 in Harare. The journey includes stops to successful farming initiatives, mining activities at the African Chrome Fields, and the new wing of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, among other places. Cultural activities, social encounters, and media briefings are all part of the visit.
The party is accompanied by Nick Mangwana, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communication and Publicity, who disclosed that the tour is a joint effort between his ministry and the Media Corporation MPC. Mangwana stated that the delegation was invited to Zimbabwe to experience its people’s hospitality and to observe for themselves the wonderful job done by the Second Republic over the previous five years.
