Uncle Waffles, Mzansi’s latest viral DJ hit, surely had the finest year in 2021, and as we all hoped for her sort of grace to find us in the new year, the young star took to social media to celebrate her achievements.

She expressed her gratitude for the nearly 120 gigs she had played in just two months on social media. To put the importance of this triumph into perspective, this implies she would have had at least two engagements per day in November and December if she had played every day. That was obviously not the case, since she was touring the continent for her concerts and would have had to include rest and travel days into her schedule. This signifies that she had more than three concerts on some days. What a way to keep yourself booked and occupied!

Tweeps instantly hauled out their calculators to figure out what the number she gave meant in numbers. However, because it is still unknown how much she charges each gig, all of the estimates were simply speculative.

One Twitter user speculated that the absolute minimum she would charge per concert would be R10,000. Using that number, she would have made R1.2 million in just two months (and maybe more, given that she claimed to have done more than 120 concerts). Given her international popularity since her initial viral video, the sum is likely to be much greater, potentially over R3 million or even more.

It is amazing to witness how successful she has been, especially since in the last few months of 2021, hating on her became one of Mzansi’s favourite pastimes. She trended at least once a week, and it was mostly because tweeps would drag her saying she has no talent, plays only one song – Adiwele – and only books gigs because she dresses seductively.
