Following Meghan Markle’s remarks about an alleged fire scare in Cape Town, South Africans on Twitter have a message for the royal: “voetsek.”
International royal critics are joining in, praising the people of Mzansi for disputing alleged “lies” spoken by Prince Harry’s wife.
The strong words come just days after Meghan Markle released the first episode of her Spotify podcast Archetypes. The royal recanted a 2019 royal trip to South Africa and how a room her baby son Archie was supposed to nap in nearly “caught on fire.”
Meghan also claims that royal aides pressured her and Harry to keep their engagements after the “fire.” This despite the fact that her family is “shaken” and “in tears.”
Here’s what tweeps had to say:
@LulamaAnderson: “Meghan Markle doesn’t care how she portrays South Africa, she must never step foot here ever again”
@rsegodi: “I was convinced by her acting in the Oprah interview. Now after lying about South Africa I withdraw my sympathy and anger against the British media and Royal family. This woman is a special case. Harry is in big trouble he needs our prayers”
@huli_longtom: “Meghan is mistaken if she thought South Africans were going to keep quiet. And one thing I love about South Africans is that WE DON’T FORGET”
@JustineFairgro1: “Meghan you may fool Americans, celeb friends, social media minions but you can’t fool Africans. You’ve shown us who you are. When you try to rip the Royal Family you forget about who you offend on the way. Your entitlement wreaks and we see through you”
@beauchamp_lord: “People like Meghan Markle making it seem like going to South Africa was the bravest thing she has done because SA is an uninhabitable place which almost took her son’s life. All the time she is lying and was coddled in a Cape Town mansion. She must truly fokof”
