Last week, viewers of one of SABC 2’s longest-running soapies, Muvhango, were put through the wringer. This came as fans of the popular TshiVenda soapie were burdened with waving farewell to one of the story’s most adored and longest-running characters, Gabriel Temudzani as Azwindini, who was leaving the soapie.

As reported followed the soapie’s and channel’s formal statement:

Gabriel Temudzani…has played Azwindini Mukwevho on the soapie since 2000. Presented as the late chief’s eldest son, the county has witnessed the Chief of Thathe claim, fall from grace, and recover his chieftaincy for over two decades.

While his character has served as a soap opera landmark. His fictional and real-life love affair with vho-Susan actress Maumela Mahuwa is similar. Viewers will have to say their final goodbyes to the role and the actor, since SABC 2 has confirmed his departure.

Gabriel Temudzani of Azwindini is leaving Muvhango after 23 years.

SABC 2 issued an official statement confirming Gabriel Temudzani’s departure as the Great Chief of Thathe Azwindini Mukwevho after 23 years of portraying the iconic role. This comes after entertainment pundit Phil Mphela broke the tale.

Yet, it appears that the whole week’s uproar about his departure was staged in order to increase views while deceiving viewers. This is because it appears that Gabriel did not left the realm of the novel and will be returning to Muvhango soon.

Phil Mphela was the one who broke the news that Gabriel Temudzani was quitting Muvhango. As a result, it is poetic justice that he should be the one to certify that everything was a lie.

This comes after Phil expressed his surprise at learning that Temudzani was not quitting the soapie.
