On Sunday, August 6, Shaka Ilembe’s supporters flocked to social media to thank actor Vusi Kunene.
Vusi Kunene, the House of Zwide actor noted for speaking English and isiZulu in his TV performances, delighted Shaka Ilembe audiences with his portrayal as King Makhasana, a Tsonga ruler.
Kunene’s followers also reported on social media that the iconic actor speaks TshiVenda, Xitsonga, and isiZulu fluently.

He co-stars with Umkhokha: The Curse actor Hope Mbhele, who plays Baleka, a healer for Mthethwa King Jobe and subsequently King Makhasana of the Mabhudu.
Baleka is shown appealing with King Makhasana to save Dingiswayo, a fugitive seized by the Tsonga tribe, in the episode.

In the Mzansi Magic drama series, Mbhele’s role is King Dingiswayo’s (Thembinkosi Mthembu) love interest.

“It was evident that he was quite comfortable with the language, and he spoke it with such fluency and naturalness,” says @GeorgeBeatsSA.

“I heard him on House of Zwide, he can speak Venda,” says @u noziphos. On a related point, where can I study additional languages, guys? Nyana, a mini-school?”

Actor @FumaniShilubana tweeted: “So him and I and Mavuso we had agreed that we will do our scenes in Xitsonga on Isidingo back in 2012. Someone from channel or production came to me and said I need to stick to English as that was an English Channel. Man speaks the language and Tshivenda too.”

@KhumaloDanica: “I think he speaks most SA languages. I heard him speak Tshivenda on Generations and I melted.”
