Scandal on E.tv alleges they had no awareness the workplace had become poisonous for Lindiwe actor Nomvelo Makhanya.

Nomvelo Makhanya, who portrayed Lindiwe Ngema on e.tv’s Scandal!, recently stated on social media that she was on the verge of committing suicide owing to the poisonous work atmosphere.

Nomvelo Makhanya, who played Lindiwe Ngema on e.tv’s Scandal! for a decade, also surprised fans when she revealed her desire to leave the soapie.

Nomvelo’s video went popular on social media, and a long YouTube video indicated that she had no plans to leave the programme.

The actress also alleges Scandal! was a “toxic” workplace that nearly pushed her to death.

I’ve been the one that’s been catching all the f*cken smoke … It wasn’t me guys, it wasn’t my choice. They wrote me off, that’s the truth … It was God’s plan though, I’m going to tell you that for real.

I have been praying… I’ve been longing to get out of there… For me, it was something I had been praying about for a long time, so when it finally occurred, it seemed like God was taking me from the toxic atmosphere. I would have most likely committed suicide. There was a 90% likelihood of success. The’s how dangerous that location was.”

Scandal!, the long-running soapie, issued a statement to TshisaLIVE recalling her ten-year journey on the show and responding to Nomvelo’s claims, saying there was no malicious intent in terminating her character.

The soapie went on to say that they had no idea their workplace was hazardous until Makhanya’s video on Friday (2 December).

“The Scandal production team was ignorant that the workplace had turned into a poisonous atmosphere for the actor, or any actor for that matter.”

“We have always emphasized an open-door policy for every one of our actors and crew for any professional or personal concern or situation.” We’ve had a fantastic ten-year run with Nomvelo Makhanya, and we appreciate the effort she put into her character, Lindiwe Maseko-Ngema.”

The exit of the Lindiwe Maseko – Ngema character was completely determined by the plot; the character had run its course on the programme, and as the show’s producers and writing team, we decided to conclude the character’s journey to allow us to explore new paths as storytellers.”

“Ending characters is always sad for us as a production, especially with an actor like Nomvelo Makhanya since she grows up in the show, but it also allows us to tell new tales in the future and provide new possibilities to remaining cast members.”
