By reaching the final of the African Football League (AFL), Mamelodi Sundowns has secured a minimum of R56 million from the league.

The Brazilians held Egyptian champions Al Ahly to a 0-0 tie on Wednesday and advanced with a 1-0 aggregate triumph. As finalists, Sundowns and Wydad, who defeated Esperance in the other semi-final, will each win $4 million.

Sundowns, on the other hand, is aiming for the top reward of R74 million, which they may win if they defeat Wydad and become the inaugural AFL champions.

The AFL final, like the previous rounds, will be contested over two legs. On Sunday, November 5, Sundowns will travel to Wydad for the opening leg at Mohamed V Sports Complex. The second leg will take place on Saturday, November 11 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. The kick-off times are yet to be determined. The winner will get the AFL trophy, while the runners-up will receive silver medals.
