Mpume Mthombeni, best known as Agatha Dlamini in Durban Gen, plays the strict mother and mother-in-law who believes in the straight and narrow. However, she is the opposite of her character in real life as she is carefree and outgoing. The actress shares her life with her wife, who she is not afraid to show on Instagram.

Mpume Mthombeni is married to Hle Lwandle Mamlungu Mthombeni. The pair were married in December 2018 and have been together since then. They showed off their rings on Facebook and Instagram after they married and congratulated fans and family.

Lwandle may be Mpume’s biggest fan as she supports her work any chance she gets, including accompanying her to functions and following her professional pages. She does not make what she does public knowledge, only posting pictures of her wife and herself. They both live in Pinetown in Durban in KwaZulu Natal.


Mpume Mthombeni is famous for her roles in several drama serials that she has taken on with a lot of talent. The actress played MaMbhele in Zbondiwe, and she gained a lot of attention from players in the industry. She was later given the role MaXimba in Uzalo on SABC 1 before playing Duduzile in Imbewu the seed when the drama series debuted. Currently, she is playing the role of Agatha or Mam’ Dlamini on Durban Gen and has people frequently talking because of her role.

She is the mother to Thabo Dlamini and Sbusiso and the woman who raised Mbali. As much as she is the perfect mother to her children, sometimes she has her problems and troubles. She is an ex gambling addict who lost her husband on the operating table. She also lost her younger son in a hostage situation to a gunshot. After Sbusiso dies, she has to live with the act that he left everything to Mbali, and she finds a job at the hospital to turn her life around.

Mpume also doubles up as a theatre actress and an entrepreneur as she is the co-founder of Amphitheater. She is one of the directors working alongside Neil Coppen and Dr Dylan McGarry. She gained international recognition when she toured New York, performing Tin Bucket Drum in 2012.
