My Brother’s Keeper, the much-anticipated telenovela, will premiere on DStv on Monday, October 23rd, at 19h30. The intriguing drama fills the vacuum left by the end of the critically acclaimed programme Gomora, which is currently in its fourth season. Wiseman Mncube, Zola Nombona, S’dumo Mtshali, Lindani Nkosi, Nelisa Mchunu, and Rosemary Zimu are among the talented and well-known performers in the new drama.

My Brother’s Keeper, produced by Rhythm World, the same company who brought you Umkhokha, tells the story of a family caught up in a deadly power struggle. Nqubeko is the focal point of the community. The narrative recounts the infraction of the conventional ‘ukungena’ laws as depicted by Wiseman Mncube, the driven and ambitious son of a mistress who is tired of being consigned to the sidelines by his father. Nqubeko’s quest for dominance takes him to his brother’s widow, Fakazile (played by Zola Nombona), who controls the Shabalala family empire.

Nqubeko’s dogged pursuit of dominance and insatiable desire for his father’s praise, however, placed him on a collision path with his four half-brothers, jeopardising the Shabalala family and its future. The series digs into the destructive effects of greed, revealing a riveting story of ambition and familial relationships.
